Pre – Competition Cycle and English Championships
04/01/16
Today marked the start of my Pre-competition cycle which leaves me 4 weeks now until English Championships so I made this boring video with even worse music to make it seem interesting!
Today’s workout:
1) Snatch: singles at 60%, 70%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95% then 3×3 at 80%
2) Clean and Jerk: singles at 60%, 70%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95% then 3×3+1 at 80%
3) Snatch High Pull: 1×3 95%, 2×3 100%, 2×3 105%
4) Front Squat: triples at 60%, 70%, 80% then 4×3 at 85%
5) Power Jerk: triples at 60%, 65%, 70%, 75%, 70% then 1×2 at 75% & 1×3 at 70%
6) Good Morning: 4×5 at 80kg
With the change from the preparation cycle to the pre competition cycle, we see a number of changes:
* A reduction in volume
* An increase in intensity
* No longer squatting first as these are now moved as an assistance exercise for the snatch and clean
Below is how the competition went:
My first national competition on January 31st 2016
Training leading up to this day was hard and I ended up with the following:
Snatch- 110, 114x, 114
C&J- 135, 140, 147x
Although I didn’t hit any PBs as had done more in training, this was still the highest competition PB to date. I went for the 147 clean and jerk for the bronze medal but it was beyond me that day!
